St. Stephen's Music Ministry

Welcome Message

At the heart of our parish community, music is more than melody—it is prayer, presence, and praise. Our Music Ministry exists to lift voices and hearts in worship, drawing us closer to God and to one another. Whether through the solemn beauty of chant, the joyful harmony of choir, or the quiet strength of instrumental accompaniment, music helps us encounter the sacred in every liturgy.

We believe that every voice matters. Through song, we foster deeper prayer, invite full participation, and celebrate the diverse gifts of our parish family. Music becomes a bridge—between generations, cultures, and experiences—uniting us in one spirit of worship.

As Psalm 96:1 proclaims:  “Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.”

We warmly invite you to join us in this sacred calling—to sing, to serve, and to share the joy of Christ through music. Whether you are a seasoned musician or simply someone who loves to sing, ALL ARE WELCOME in St. Stephen’s musical family. Experience the warmth and friendship of our fellow music ministers, and help add beauty and meaning to our liturgies through music.

We pray that the notes and words on the page become the song within our hearts to worship God. Additional members are needed for each of our music groups—so please consider joining us. No experience is necessary—just a desire to “make a joyful noise to the Lord!”

Toni Orlando-Gilchriest, Music Director

  • Choir

The St. Stephen’s Choir rehearses on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. and sings for the 10:30 a.m. Mass each week and is open to adults and students in grades 7 and up.

  • Cantors

Cantors serve a vital role in leading the congregation in sung prayer, proclaiming the Opening Hymn, Gloria, Responsorial Psalm, and Gospel Acclamation from the altar. They may also have opportunities to sing solos in collaboration with the Choir during Mass.

  • Funeral Choir

St. Stephen’s Funeral Choir offers comfort and compassion through music, providing a meaningful presence for grieving families during Funeral Masses. The choir gathers 30 minutes before each service to review the music together. If you're available on weekday mornings and would like to be part of this ministry, simply connect with Toni to join the email list. Your voice can be a source of peace and healing.

  • Instrumentalists

Instrumentalists are warmly invited to share their gifts during our weekly Sunday Masses, as well as during the Christmas and Easter seasons. We welcome middle and high school students and adults who are eager to enhance our worship through music.
